Bring Joy – Midland
Midland – Bring Joy
More Music’ is sub label of the Music management company “This is Music’. They handles a who’s who of dance music from ‘Little Boots’ too ‘Simian Mobile Disco’ and ‘More Music’ takes after it sister company in terms of top notch clientele. ‘Bicep’, ‘Michel Cleis’, ‘Marc Romby’, ‘Huxley’, ‘Lee Foss’ and ‘Ripperton’ are just a few who have released their own unique music on a label that is not afraid to cross genes.
‘Midland’ steps up for this outing with ‘Bring Joy’, a ‘Breakbeat’ roller which has a sub heavy bass line steaming right through the middle as it is punctuated with classic breaks percussion. What really makes this track is the ‘old school’ pitched up vocal which glides in on a warm pad. The master of epic ‘Techno’ tracks ‘Radioslave’ lends his hand for the remix. ‘Radioslave’ recognizes that the vocal is central and pitches it down to give it a completely different feel. The haunting dark vocal is compounded with equally exquisite pads to give the track a fantasy feeling.
Warehouse Dub could not sum ‘Youandewan’ remix up any better. An absolute thumping kick drum stomps through this dark brooding track with minimal percussion underneath. The vocal takes a back seat as it is chopped up fed through massive delays which together with the kick drum give you a feeling of massive dark empty warehouse. Dead eyes is lighter track compared to the others, a nice mid range Bass line with a warm piano riff make this a nice little house number which rounds off this EP nicely as it covers ‘Break Beat’, ‘House’ and ‘Techno’. If you want to keep your finger on the pulse of ‘Electronic’ music, keep an eye on ‘More music’
