Warehouse Project 1st Dec 2012

Warehouse3

1st December was my second venture up to Manchester for another instalment of the Warehouse Project and after the insanely busy experience of Flying Lotus I was slightly nervous about how much music I was going to be able to enjoy this time round. However the second I walked through the gates it was more chilled, the progressive House and Techno acts attracted a much different, older and more experienced rave crowd the 9th and you could feel this throughout the entire venue. I headed to room 2 as we entered because Boddika and Joy Orbison were absolutely killing it in there. Room 2 is a long tunnel and the sound has no were to go but hitting you in the face, Joy Orbison was dropping some seriously big tunes and everyone in that Room was F**king loving it. Unfortunately we had to cut Boddika short because Orbital were starting in Room 1, I was so nervous heading into the Room because I knew how busy it could get from my previous experience, however this time round was absolutely epic, no complaints from me whatsoever! Orbital played one of the most intense and epic DJ sets I will ever see, accompanied by a light show that even Flying Lotus would struggle to rival. They somehow dropped Belinda Carlisle – Heaven Is a Place on Earth and made it work with an epic Techno beat underneath it, they really stole the show.

Orbital set the bar for the rest of the night and they were swiftly followed by Scuba who again played an epic set dropping big tunes from all his albums, this night really was getting better and better. Unlike the 9th November everyone had space to move and dance and the crowd was friendly and chatting with one another which again elevated the experience of everyone there. Then came Modeselektor who played an intense 75 minutes of thumping techno which got everyone in the crowd going bonkers. At one point the pair both had bottles of champagne and was spraying them into the front row – these two guys truly are nutters and I recommend them to anyone who’s never seen them live.

In sum, I do not have a criticism of this night, it was less busy than the 9th even though both were sell outs, the crowd were awesome and most importantly the music was incredible. Thank you Resident Advisor for putting on such a great night, I will most certainly be returning next year. See you all there!
